Hello! My name is Andrea and I am a trained Professional Organizer and the founder of Shelf Care Organizing.

Although my tendency is towards being organized, I have suffered through bouts of total disorganization in my home. Living in the chaotic mess has taught me how profoundly important being organized is to my mental health. Especially during difficult times… I had two young children and a demanding job. I was taking courses in the evenings while learning my new role at work. I was pushing myself to make sure I had it all together and then I suffered the sudden and incredible loss of my father. As a result of grieving while trying to work and take care of my family, my house was slowly starting to feel messy, disorganized and chaotic. Not a big deal right? It was a big deal because of HOW it made me FEEL. I felt overwhelmed, out of control, stressed and frustrated. I felt like I couldn’t get ahead and was drowning in the chaos!

When I hit my pain point, I started to make small changes in my home. Sorting and editing my linen closet, figuring out systems and containers to neatly store the kids toys, categorizing and storing seasonal items, editing duplicates in my kitchen and donating clothes I no longer wore. Making these organizational improvements not only made my home look better but it also had such a huge impact on how I FELT. I felt like I was in control of taking care of things for my future self. Organization was my self-care, and the benefits were far outweighing the time and energy I put into the process. Every time I would organize a cupboard, closet, or room I began to feel calm and empowered. I had more time; less stress and I was more productive! This is when the idea of Shelf Care Organizing was born! What a gift to have the ‘know how’ to organize but what a greater privilege to share my passion to help others.

I am certified by the Institute for Professional Organizers. The standards and practice I learned from the Institute for Professional Organizers are based on the principles and Code of Ethics set out by the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals.
